Terms of Service
Last updated: [DATE]
1. Who we are
Stackyard is operated by [LEGAL BUSINESS NAME] ([BUSINESS ADDRESS], [CONTACT EMAIL]). These Terms govern your use of the Stackyard app platform (the "Service").
2. What Stackyard is
Stackyard is a subscription library of small apps, each powered by AI. Stackyard does not provide the AI itself — you connect your own free Google Gemini API key ("Bring Your Own Key" / BYOK), obtained directly from Google, and each app uses that key to make requests to Google's Gemini API on your behalf.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login credentials secure. You're responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Your API key — your responsibility
- Your Gemini API key is yours, issued to you by Google, and remains subject to Google's own terms of service and pricing.
- We store your key encrypted at rest and use it only to make the AI requests your chosen apps ask for, on your instruction.
- We do not control, and are not responsible for, Google's pricing, free-tier limits, rate limits, outages, or any changes Google makes to the Gemini API.
- If your key is exposed, revoked, expired, or hits a usage limit, that is between you and Google — we'll do what we reasonably can within the product (e.g. letting you save and switch between multiple keys) but can't guarantee availability of any given key.
5. Subscription & billing
- Stackyard is offered as a paid monthly subscription, billed in advance via Stripe. Current pricing is shown at signup.
- New subscriptions include a free trial period (length shown at signup); you won't be charged until the trial ends unless you cancel first.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled.
- You can cancel any time via the in-app subscription management (Stripe Customer Portal). Cancelling stops future renewals — you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- See the separate Refund Policy for details on refunds.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to store, publish, or share content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, or infringes anyone's rights.
- Attempt to access another user's account or data, or bypass any access controls.
- Use the "community" / shared-data features of any app to publish spam, abuse, or content designed to manipulate or deceive other users (e.g. fabricated scores on a leaderboard).
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service's normal operation.
7. Shared / community features
Some apps let you publish data visible to other subscribers (e.g. a shared leaderboard or wall). This content is provided by users, not by us, and is not reviewed before publication. We may remove any published content or suspend accounts that misuse this feature, at our discretion, and reserve the right to unpublish or archive any app entirely (including for legal or safety reasons) without prior notice.
8. Suggestions & feedback
If you submit app ideas or feedback, you grant us the right to use, build, and publish them without any obligation to compensate or credit you, unless we separately agree otherwise.
9. Our right to change or remove apps
Apps in the library may be updated, unpublished, or removed at any time. We'll aim to give notice for anything that meaningfully affects apps you actively use, but this isn't guaranteed for urgent legal/safety takedowns.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or unlawful use. You may close your account at any time (see Privacy Policy for what happens to your data).
11. Disclaimers & liability
The Service is provided "as is." We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any AI-generated output will be accurate, appropriate, or fit for any particular purpose — you're responsible for how you use AI-generated content. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited (e.g. for death, personal injury, or fraud).
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after an update means you accept the changes. Material changes will be flagged in-app where practical.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
